Man arrested over allegedly starting bushfire at West Gosford

WITH a total fire ban in place and hot and windy conditions, fire services acted quickly to put out a deliberately lit fire at West Gosford today.

A MAN has been arrested after he allegedly caused a fire in bushland at West Gosford today.

On a day when temperatures were in the mid 30s and a total fire ban was in place, emergency services were called to bushland on Racecourse Road about 3.15pm following reports of a fire.

Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

A man was detained nearby and officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command arrested a 47-year-old man.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquires.

The blaze was contained to bushland with no reported property damage or injuries.
