A man allegedly caught with cannabis and 73 MDMA capsules trying to enter the Lost Paradise music festival at Glenworth Valley has pleaded not guilty.

Antoine Gerard Gouwy, 28, of Arncliffe in Sydney’s south, faced Gosford Local Court on Thursday, January 12, where he pleaded not guilty to possessing cannabis and supplying MDMA.

Charge sheets tendered to court allege Mr Gouwy was stopped by police at the festival between 4.20pm and 5pm on December 29 where he was allegedly in possession of 14.97g of cannabis.

He was also allegedly in possession of 73 ecstasy capsules, which police will allege in court was for the supply of the drugs to other festival goers.

Mr Gouwy was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged and later released on bail.

His matter was adjourned to March 2 to set a hearing date and his bail was continued.

It was the first year back for the popular music festival since 22-year-old Brisbane man Joshua Tam died from a drug overdose in 2018.

The event was cancelled in 2019 because of bushfires and again in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions.

There was a heavy police presence over the four-day festival where a further 18 charges were issued to patrons for possessing drugs and 12 on-the-spot fines handed out for minor possession offences.

Ten people were also given “cautions” for possessing cannabis during the festival which culminated on New Year’s Eve.
