A YOUNG single mum who went on national television and described a man who punched her in the face in a road rage attack as a low life scumbag “bitch” has herself been sentenced to 140 hours’ community service for instigating the ugly incident.
Bianca Lee Sams told A Current Affair she was “scared” but would not “back down to no one” when she started throwing nails from a nail gun at Clint Pollard’s BT50 ute on the Pacific Highway at Lake Munmorah in July 2017.
“I was like, ‘this dude is a f***in’ nutcase (and) I need to protect me, my friend and son’,” Sams, 21, told ACA.
“I threw them because I had to ... (it was) what I had to do to protect me and my friend
“We were both scared, We didn’t know what to do.”
The incident culminated when both vehicles came to a red light at the intersection of Carters Rd when 42-year-old Pollard got out of his ute, walked up to Sams and punched her in the face.
The incident was captured on a truckie’s dash camera and went viral when he posted it on social media.
Pollard was later convicted of assault and copped a three-year good behaviour bond and a $900 fine.
But footage Pollard shot on his mobile showed it was the 21-year-old Sams, of Lake Munmorah, who was the real instigator, taunting him and mouthing “come and get me” as she threw nails at his brand new ute.
Sams was today sentenced in Wyong Local Court to a total of 360 hours of community service for intentionally throwing an object at a vehicle risking people’s safety and two counts of damaging property after she also threw a chisel, which smashed one of his rear side view mirrors.
However the sentences were concurrent meaning she will only have to perform a total of 140 hours.
She was also fined $500 for hanging “Duke of Hazzard-style” out of her friend’s vehicle while throwing the nails
Her friend Taylor Bembridge, who had her five-month-old baby in her Ford utility at the time, had earlier pleaded guilty to driving recklessly in a dangerous manner after she tried to reverse into Pollard after the assault and later bragged about it on social media.
Bembridge also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the conditions of her licence and travelling with an unrestrained passenger.
She was given a five-month suspended sentence.
