Lake Munmorah: Bradley White, 19, pleads guilty to home invasion and failing to quit Wyong Leagues Club

A teenager, who was on bail for a violent home invasion in which he used a metal bar to “flog” a man over money, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer.

Bradley White, 19, of Lake Munmorah, was already on bail for a violent home invasion when he became drunk and abusive to staff at Wyong Leagues Club before assaulting a police officer.

The teenager faced Wyong Local Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer in the execution of their duty and failing to quit a licenced premises.

He also pleaded guilty to common assault, aggravated enter dwelling with intent while knowing people were there and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

An agreed set of facts states White was friends with a 25-year-old neighbour until the pair had a falling out over money “a couple of months ago” with White accusing the man of stealing about $300-400 from him.

The animosity boiled over on January 15 when a melee broke out between White and the neighbour, along with several other men, on Agatha Ave, Lake Munmorah.

Police arrived but the group dispersed and there was no further investigation.

The facts state on Australia Day, January 26, White was out the front with some other men when the neighbour arrived home and White yelled out something to him.

Later that evening the pair exchanged a series of Facebook messages, calls and texts about the incident on January 15 and the comment earlier in the day.

The messages continued until 12.30am on January 27 when the neighbour went to sleep in a granny flat with his partner beside him.

About 1am the neighbour woke to White entering the granny flat with a shirt covering his face.

He was followed by two other men and the trio were armed with a metal pole, a golf club and an “unknown object”.

The victim couldn’t tell who was holding what.

White an the two men stated hitting the victim on the back and the back of the legs about six or more times making it hard for him to get up.

One of the blows missed the victim and hit his partner who woke up screaming.

“The two unknown males ran from the house,” the facts state.

“With a pole, White hit [the victim] across the back, causing the pole to snap.”

White fled outside and the victim called police.

The following day police arrested White at his house and took him back to Wyong Police Station where he agreed to be interviewed.

He declined to tell police who accompanied him during the incident but admitted “I home invaded him” and “I hit him a few times”.

Asked why he did it White replied “just to go and flog him” over the alleged stolen money.

Eight months later on September 30 police were called to an unrelated incident at Wyong Leagues Club about 10.40pm.

While they were there, officers saw White becoming “combative” with security staff who were escorting him outside for being too drunk and disorderly.

Police intervened and as they began walking White outside he “stumbled backwards beginning to fall”.

Another officer caught White and helped him to his feet.

White said “I know who youse all are, you’re all f...ed witts.” the facts state, before swinging his arm at one of the officers and hitting him on the vest.

The officer took White down with a leg sweep and arrested him before taking him to Wyong Police Station.

“The accused was not read his Part 9 rights or interviewed due to his hostile and aggressive behaviour while in police custody,” the facts state.

White will be sentenced on December 15.
