A four-year-old boy has sustained head injuries and abrasions to his legs after he was run over by a reversing vehicle in a driveway at Killarney Vale
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 4.30pm on Tuesday from the Westmead hangar and landed 20 minutes later in Eastern Road Oval, Killarney Vale.
NSW Ambulance paramedics had provided initial treatment for the boy and transported him to the park to meet CareFlight’s clinical team.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the boy, including an ultrasound to examine his injuries.
The clinical team continued providing care as the boy was taken by road in a stable condition with NSW Ambulance to John Hunter Hospital.
Emergency services have said it was a timely reminder for motorists to be extra vigilant during the school holidays.
