Iszacc Bonnici: Blue Haven Graffiti vandal pleads guilty to malicious damage, drugs offences

A graffiti vandal who spray-painted trains at stations across western Sydney, the Hunter and Gosford before allegedly posting his handiwork on social media has pleaded guilty.

A graffiti vandal who damaged property from the Hunter Valley to Sydney has pleaded guilty to 22 spray-painting, trespass and drugs offences.

Iszacc Bonnici, 19, of Blue Haven, said nothing while his matter was mentioned briefly at Wyong Local Court on Wednesday where his Legal Aid solicitor confirmed guilty pleas to 21 offences and formally entered a guilty plea to a further charge of damaging a historic train carriage at Richmond.

Bonnici was charged after police raided his address on July 28 following an investigation by the Police Transport Command into the vandalism of trains across Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter Region.

During the search, police located sketch pads, spray paint, a mobile phone, three cannabis plants in a hydroponic set up and 16g of dried cannabis.

The items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

Investigators also charged a 35-year-old Newtown man and he remains before the courts.

After his arrest Bonnici was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with seven counts each of malicious damage and entering train lines.

He was also charged with five counts of disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offence along with one count each of possessing and cultivating a prohibited plant.

The court heard he was also charged with importing a controlled drug but without commercial intent.

Police facts, tendered in court, state Bonnici conducted acts of vandalism at train stations at Kingsgrove, Maitland, Campbelltown, Hamilton, Lidcombe, Telarah and Gosford.

The court heard Mr Bonnici then uploaded these acts of vandalism to social media.

Magistrate Elizabeth Ellis ordered a full pre-sentence report before adjourning the matter for sentence November 4.
