It may have been a wet night but nothing could dampen the spirits of the Year 12 graduating class at Lisarow High School.
The class of 2021 celebrated their formal on Thursday night at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal, with the 84 students thrilled to be able to end their school years in each other’s company.
Some arrived in fancy cars, while there were plenty of stunning dresses and suave suits. However they were all glowing with post-exam joy.
“The whole event went really well,” Lisarow High School’s Year 12 Adviser Ellen Marsh told the Express.
“The best thing is that the students had a brilliant night, there was a lot of dancing and they were all really happy with the food.”
Ms Marsh said while the pre-formal photos at The Haven had to be relocated due to the weather, it worked well with students, teachers and parents able to watch each other arrive at the Crowne Plaza.
She said the last two years had been challenging for the students with online learning and other hurdles due to the Covid pandemic.
“It has been hard for them, online learning is really difficult for some students,” she said.
“It doesn’t work like clockwork. But they are an amazing group to be able to go through what they have gone through and make the most of it.
“It has really not been easy and just to see them have the opportunity to celebrate was amazing. They have had a big week of celebration and this was their last get together.”
Ms Marsh said some of the former students who had left school earlier for jobs also came to see their former classmates before the formal.
“They are a really close cohort,” she said.
The Express Advocate was privileged to attend the pre-formal gathering and capture images of this “amazing group”.
