A CENTRAL Coast student’s search for a job has galvanised his local community and drawn responses from around the nation after his mother posted a photo of the 16-year-old with a letter asking for a job.

Like many teenagers, Addison Quinn, from Erina, is hoping to find weekend work experience.

So, he wrote a letter to employers introducing himself and attaching a photo.

“Hi, my name is Addison. I’m 16 years old ... I am currently looking for a job, maybe 1-2 hours on the weekend,” wrote Addison, who was born with Down syndrome.

The Year 10 student at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College added: “I am very good at wiping tables, cleaning up and sweeping the floor.”

“This is just a few of my many talents. I have a great personality and get on with people.

“I have trouble with my speech but can follow short instructions, when I have done the task a few times I can remember what to do.”

“At home I wash my own clothes and hang them on the line. I put the rubbish out and feed my dogs.”

Addison’s mother, Lisa Quinn, posted a photo of the letter on Facebook on Sunday drawing thousands of messages of encouragement and support.

By Wednesday afternoon it had been shared more than 10,400 times by people from as far away as Adelaide to Brisbane.

Entertainer Tim Campbell instagrammed the message to his 20,000 followers with the message: “Anyone on the Central Coast NSW who can assist, please consider favourably. I will be your next customer!”

Job offers have flooded in from corporate giants McDonalds and Coles, Clubs NSW and some “beautiful local employers”, Mrs Quinn told the Central Coast Express Advocate.

The family was touched to receive a text message from people offering money to Addison so that he could buy new shoes and clothes for job interviews.

The Express understands that Addison is now ensconced in the interview process and the family hopes to have some news to report soon.

His letter ends: “I would love to have the chance to gain some work experience. Regards, Addison Quinn”.
