A woman has been charged over the alleged police chase which ended in a fiery crash on Henry Parry Drive.
Police allege a Toyota Corolla was spotted speeding on McDonalds Rd in Lisarow just after 1.30am on Tuesday when the driver allegedly failed to stop for officers.
Police gave chase to the car along Henry Parry Dr – where it allegedly reached speeds of 128km/hr in 40km/hr and 50km/hr zones and up to 145km/h – before the vehicle left the road and collided with a concrete barrier and a power pole.
A male teenager and two women managed to escape the vehicle before the fire took hold.
Officers arrested all three a short time later including the alleged driver who was a 21-year-old Kincumber woman. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for a pre-existing injury and mandatory testing.
She has since been released and taken to Chatswood Police Station where she was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerous, exceed speed (more than 45km/h) and drive whilst disqualified.
She appeared at Hornsby Local Court where she was refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on July 22.
The two passengers – a 23-year-old North Avoca woman and a 16-year-old boy – were also taken to hospital for assessment and have been released with no charges.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is continuing.
Henry Parry Drive reopened around 10.30am on Tuesday as the car was removed and the clean up completed.
What remained was the burnt out trees, damaged retaining wall and the base of the power pole.
A bystander told the Express it was a miracle the three people inside the vehicle survived.
“The power pole has been completely obliterated,” he said.
“I can’t believe anyone walked away from this.”
