A man will spend his first night behind bars after allegedly assaulting a police officer who had gone to speak to him about allegedly yelling loudly and threatening neighbours.
Blake Maxwell Sanders, of Halekulani, did not apply for bail and it was formally refused at Wyong Local Court on Tuesday.
Charge sheets tendered to court allege the 28-year-old trespassed onto two of his neighbours’ properties on Walu Ave about 3am and threatened or intimidated one of the neighbours.
Police arrived about 5pm and after patrolling the area saw Ms Sanders enter his house at 18 Walu Ave without further incident.
Police were called back to the scene after reports he was again seen allegedly trespassing and threatening residents.
Two officers spoke to him before he became aggressive and allegedly punched a female senior constable, 47, in the head multiple times.
He was restrained before he allegedly lunged at the senior constable again and OC spray was deployed unsuccessfully.
The man allegedly continued to punch and knee the officer in the head before he was restrained and arrested.
The senior constable sustained facial lacerations and was treated at the scene before being taken to Wyong Hospital for further treatment.
Mr Sanders was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with two counts of trespassing without lawful excuse, intimidation, assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty causing actual bodily harm and resisting arrest.
He was also charged with a further two counts of intimidating a police officer and inciting someone to commit an indictable offence for allegedly mouthing off at the custody sergeant, according to the charge sheets.
He will face court again later this month.
