A Sydney man charged over an alleged high-speed pursuit on the Central Coast did not apply for bail when his matter was mentioned briefly at Gosford Local Court.

Ahmed Tamiem Azizy, of Cherrybrook, was listed for a bail review when he appeared via video link from custody on Friday but his lawyer did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

The 33-year-old is facing 16 charges including 10 which stemmed from a pursuit which police allege began about 7.30pm on January 21 when Mr Azizy allegedly held a woman against her will at a Green Point shopping centre before allegedly stealing her SUV.

Acting on information, police saw the vehicle on James Sea Drive at Green Point, and a pursuit was initiated when Mr Azizy allegedly failed to stop as directed.

Police followed the vehicle where it allegedly reached speeds of up to 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The SUV allegedly struck a ute on Terrigal Drive at Erina a short time later.

The female driver of the ute was shaken but not injured.

The PolAir helicopter tracked the vehicle to a roundabout at the intersection of the Central Coast Highway and Crystal St, Forresters Beach, where it allegedly hit a police vehicle and rolled onto its side.

Mr Azizy was hit with a taser and capsicum spray during an alleged struggle before being arrested.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries before he was taken to Gosford Hospital under police guard.

On his release, Mr Azizy was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with 10 offences including two counts of contravening an apprehended violence order (AVO), common assault, stealing a car, driving while suspended, failing to stop during a police pursuit, using an offensive weapon to avoid arrest and resisting police.

He was also charged with a further six charges of contravening an AVO, intimidation, destroying property and stealing a car between August last year and the day before the alleged pursuit.

Mr Azizy was adjourned to face court again on March 24.
