The highly-anticipated Under the Southern Stars festival in Gosford, featuring Live, Stone Temple Pilots and Bush, has been cancelled due to coronavirus fears.
Under the Southern Stars event promoter Andrew McManus has announced the event, scheduled for April 5, will be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 virus which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
“In light of the current global health crisis, we feel that it is imperative to protect the Under The Southern Stars family and proceed in a clear and calm matter,” he announced today.
“We have been closely monitoring the situation as it has developed and following directives from the Chief Medical Officer of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee.
“With the increase of travel bans and lock downs in an effort to stop transmission of the virus which poses such a considerable threat to world health, and with the safety of our patrons, artists, staff and crew in mind, we have no other choice than to postpone our April 2020 festival tour dates.”
The event has been postponed to February or March 2021, with Mr McManus stating that purchased tickets will be valid for the 2021 event.
The 11-show tour was due to start at Tuncurry on April 3 and wrap up at Newcastle on April 19.
There are now 92 confirmed cases of the virus in NSW.
