The much-loved mascot of Forresters Beach Garden Centre has been stolen.
Samson the giant — not to mention heavy easily weighting more than 50kg — gorilla was taken from the Central Coast Highway nursery on Friday night.
Garden centre owner Linda Remington is appealing for assistance in finding Samson.
“We realised he was missing on Saturday morning when a child asked where he was,” she said.
“It’s just devastating. He was our mascot and icon who was admired and enjoyed by our customers, passers-by and especially all the kids.”
She said Samson would be extremely heavy being made of fibreglass and cement, and would have been a two to three man job to move from the nursery.
“It was definitely premeditated,” Ms Remington said.
“They would have had to have a van or truck to take him away, I doubt they carried him down the street. They have also cut the fence in order to get him out.”
She said Samson had been at the nursery since last September.
“We actually sold one and then decided to keep Samson as a mascot and because he is so eye catching,” she said.
“If anyone has any information about his whereabouts, please contact the police or the garden centre.”
