An alleged gunman is behind bars on remand after police claim he fired a shot into a brick wall following an argument with a mystery man on the Central Coast.
Paul John Stuart, 56, did not apply for bail in Parramatta Local Court on Monday, having been arrested the previous evening over an incident in Gosford.
NSW Police said officers attached to the Brisbane Water Police District were called to a unit on Gertrude St about 6.30pm on Sunday, following reports of a gunshot.
Officers set up a perimeter before entering the unit and arresting Stuart about an hour-and-a-half later.
Police will allege Stuart had an argument with an unknown man before a gunshot was fired, hitting a brick wall.
There were no reports of injuries.
Stuart was taken to the Gosford Police Station while officers established a crime scene at the unit, seizing a double-barrel shotgun, ammunition and a machete for further examination.
The 56-year-old was later charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling or house with disregard for safety, firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property, possessing a shortened firearm without authority, possessing ammunition without holding a licence, permit or authority, and possessing a prohibited drug.
He faced court via video link on Monday and was remanded in custody until his next scheduled appearance on January 10.
