A man has faced court charged with allegedly sexually abusing four boys as far back as the 1970s.
Alex Paul Fletcher, 64, of Ettalong, faced Gosford Local Court on Friday where he is facing nine charges including three counts of aggravated sexual assault, five counts of indecent assault and one charge of rape.
It comes after Brisbane Water detectives commenced an investigation in July last year following reports of an alleged sexual assault dating back to the 1970s.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives attended Mr Fletcher’s Ettalong Beach home about 3.15pm on Sunday, September 22, and arrested him.
He was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged and refused bail to face Gosford Local Court the following day where he was granted bail.
Charge sheets allege Mr Fletched indecently assaulted and raped a boy, aged between 10 and 14, on four separate occasions between 1970 and 1979 at Telopea.
Police will further allege in court that between 2002 and 2003, Mr Fletcher sexually abused two boys, also aged between 10 and 14, on his yacht in the Woy Woy area.
The charge sheets also allege Mr Fletcher sexually assaulted a fourth boy, of a similar age, twice between 2007 and 2011 at Ettalong.
Police will allege that boy was first assaulted while he was door knocking as part of a school fundraiser.
Mr Fletcher, who was listed on court documents as having full time employment with the navy, was not required to enter any pleas on Friday and his matter has been adjourned to January 31.
