A man fatally stabbed outside a property on Karalta Rd, Erina, has been identified as 42-year-old Shahn Baker.

A man found fatally stabbed outside a house on Karalta Rd, Erina, has been identified as 42-year-old Shahn Baker.

It comes as his ex-girlfriend has described the moment she came outside to “put the bins out” and found him in the front yard of a nearby property.

Maxie Scarlett-Wilson was visiting a friend at a townhouse complex on Karalta Rd when she went outside and discovered the body of her ex-boyfriend of six years Shahn Baker on a nearby lawn.

Ms Scarlett-Wilson said her friend had gone outside “about 10 seconds before me” and discovered Mr Baker along with other neighbours in the front yard of a nearby unit.

She said he was “still alive and breathing at the time” when she went outside.

Emergency services were called at 8.50pm and paramedics treated the 42-year-old for a stab wound to the chest.

Despite their best efforts he could not be revived and died at the scene.

Ms Scarlett-Wilson said initially she did not know he had been stabbed when she first saw him and thought he might have been “drunk” having visited another friend’s home at the townhouse complex earlier in the evening.

“He was a good guy,” she said.

Ms Scarlett-Wilson said while they had split up they had remained friends and Mr Baker’s friends and family were shocked by his death.

Police meanwhile established a crime scene to investigate Mr Baker’s alleged murder.

Brisbane Water Acting Superintendent Paul Nicholls said as of 10am this morning no one had been charged and the investigation was still “in its infancy”.

“We’re keeping all lines of inquiry open,” he said.

“We certainly will be interviewing the deceased person’s family, relatives, friends and associates to establish what has occurred.”

“Throughout the evening we have spoken to a number of people in the area and we will continued to speak with people in the area,” Acting Supt Nicholls said.“We will be appealing for anyone that’s got any information about this matter to come forwards.”
