Wamberal-based landscape photographer Glenn McKimmin is calling for submissions from all walks of life for a photo competition documenting our time in social isolation.
“2020isolation” has already attracted entries from throughout Australia, as well as America and Europe.
Participants will receive a professional photographic print of their entry and be in the running to have their work featured in a hardcover book. McKimmin, a 15-year veteran of the photography industry, is also considering holding an exhibition.
“Being in and around the industry for so many years, I think photography has been vital in documenting our history,” McKimmin said.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to unite and to give people something to think about and to get creative.”
The concept has been getting a lot of traction online and McKimmin has been receiving interest from high school teachers on behalf of their students, through to professional photographers.
McKimmin said he wasn’t encouraging people to spend a lot of time outside but rather to document their own experiences.
“People have already been documenting this for months without realising it,” he said.
McKimmin, the nephew of acclaimed photographer Ken Duncan, manages several pioneering businesses in the photographic industry, including a luxury photo tour company Fotoworkshops, photography conference Aperture Australia and specialist printing and framing lab Created for Life.
