A court has heard a run-in at a Central Coast club sparked a violent confrontation in which this tradie allegedly bashed a man with a baseball bat outside his own home.

How do juries decide a verdict?

A man has been refused bail after allegedly assaulting three people armed with a baseball bat, while two other men were allegedly armed with a shovel and a metal pole.

Dressed in a high visibility flouro work jumper Corey Allen Parry faced Wyong Local Court on Tuesday after he “handed himself in to police” on Monday, the court heard.

The 26-year-old sat quietly in the dock as his solicitor unsuccessfully applied for bail.

Mr Parry was charged with seven offences including affray, being armed with intent, two counts of reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm in company.

The court heard he had been at a licensed club at Gwandalan on February 19 when there was an altercation and he allegedly punched a man.

Magistrate Caleb Franklin said the alleged incident was captured on CCTV and some time later he and two other men, according to the police facts, armed themselves with “a shovel, a baseball bat and an iron bar”.

Mr Parry appeared at Wyong Local Court where he was refused bail.

He said the police allege the trio went to the victim’s house and called out to him to “come out and fight them”.

Magistrate Franklin said the victim came out to calm the men down but he was allegedly attacked, with Mr Parry armed with a baseball bat.

He said the victim was knocked unconscious and left with a 10cm laceration to his head.

Magistrate Franklin said, according to the police facts, Mr Parry had the baseball bat in one hand and allegedly punched another victim with his free hand when they tried to intervene.

The court heard that victim was left with a 5cm laceration to his head and a broken jaw, which needed to be wired.

As the three co-accuseds were leaving Magistrate Franklin said Mr Parry allegedly grabbed a woman and pulled her to the ground before allegedly kneeing her in the head.

In refusing bail Magistrate Franklin said there appeared to be a degree of “premeditation”, the allegations were “a serious example of violence” and Mr Parry had already served an 18-month intensive corrections order for another matter of violence.

His solicitor told the court Mr Parry was a water-proofer and had been away for work for two weeks before getting back on Sunday and “turned himself in to police” the following day.

The court heard at least one more of the three alleged offenders was already before the courts.

The matter was adjourned to March 31.
