A man has been refused bail after allegedly damaging a police car and leading officers on a wild chase across the Central Coast in a vehicle that contained unlicensed loaded guns, ammunition, a hatchet and drugs.
Corey Toms, 27, appeared via video link before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday morning where he was refused bail on 11 driving, unlicensed registration, firearms and drugs charges following the alleged chase on Monday.
Officers initiated a pursuit after a sedan allegedly ignored a police direction to stop on Del Rio Drive in the seaside suburb of Copacabana at about 7.40am on Monday.
The sedan was involved in what was described as a minor collision with a police vehicle but no injuries were reported.
The pursuit continued north through Kincumber, Avoca and Terrigal until the sedan turned onto Cabarita Street, Wamberal, where it crashed.
Police allege a search of Toms revealed 0.8g of methamphetamine and a flick knife.
They said a subsequent search of the sedan allegedly revealed three firearms, ammunition, and a hatchet, which were all seized by police.
Toms and a 33-year-old woman were arrested at the scene. The woman has since been released without charge.
Toms will next front court on 24 July.
