The Central Coast has been pummelled again by wild weather – and it’s not over yet.
High tides at The Entrance have forced the closure of Memorial Park carpark, Memorial Park and the playground this afternoon with people urged to avoid the area.
Meanwhile the Bureau of Meteorology has issued further warnings of hazardous surf conditions across the region heading into the afternoon.
“The low pressure system lingers off the coast giving us another cold windy day,” the BOM states.
“Please surfers and rock fishers, don’t go near the water at this time. It is extremely dangerous conditions.”
The hazardous surf conditions ravaged beaches across the coast over the weekend, with many surfers keen to take advantage of the huge waves.
Wadalba’s Richard Ruhl captured the huge swells lashing the public carpark off Memorial Parade at The Entrance last night.
Mr Ruhl braved the weather to capture the footage around 9.30pm.
“There were big waves coming over and into the carpark,” Mr Ruhl told the Express.
“It went right to the back to Marine Parade. There were a couple of freak waves. I had to move my car back. It was so strong. Some of the parking bollards had moved.”
He said it was quite a show, with the channel in full swing and “good swells coming through”.
Locals at The Entrance will be hoping conditions ease sooner than later with the area still recovering from wild weather and flooding back in February.
The weekend of February 8-9 resulted in hundreds of homes flooding in and around Tuggerah Lakes.
It also resulted in a huge bunfight with locals and Central Coast Council over The Entrance Channel and whether it should have been opened earlier.
