It’s relaxed, eclectic with amazing coffee and all day breakfast — what more could you ask for?

What about the tastiest eggs Benedict going around or a plant-based breakfast known as The Hangover II which is packed with flavour.

The Glass Onion Society represents the heart and soul of Long Jetty, with its creative vibe, retro set up along with honest food.

Owners Kelly McDougall and Adrian Reynolds took over the cafe 18 months ago with a desire to put their mark on the much-loved destination.

“We were customers here and loved this place so we already had a connection to it,” Ms McDougall said.

“Our aim was to keep the vibe. We really followed the lead of the previous owners. All credit to them, they took a risk and it worked in their favour.

“It’s really been an amazing year. We are so passionate about the area, a lot of artists and creative people are based in Long Jetty.”

The menu is mixed with a focus on plant-based dishes, however there are also meat dishes on offer.

The smoothie bowl named Purple Haze is artwork in a bowl — too good looking to eat — but I did anyway and it was an amazing blend of açai, blueberries, banana, dates, maca powder and peanut butter. Topped with fruit, granola and seeds, there was every flavour and texture you could imagine.

Next up was The Hangover II, a vegan burger full of smashed avocado, grilled mushrooms, hash brown, kale, hummus and house-made beans. A champions start to any morning.

For eggs and bacon lovers, the Big Balls Benny is ideal with a house-made hollandaise like no other.

Mr Reynolds said the cafe prided itself on making meals from scratch, using the freshest produce.

The cafe also doubles as a gallery, retail outlet with plants, keep cups and other sustainable products, as well as a local gig spot.

There’s also free Wi-Fi, with people often working from the cafe while enjoying the great food and atmosphere.
