Pocket Bar Terrigal becomes one of Central Coast popular restaurants

Find a comfy couch, pair a cocktail with some tapas, then all that’s left to do is relax. That’s the mantra at Pocket Bar Terrigal.

Pocket Bar Terrigal has become a popular spot in the beachside suburb in the last six years.

The bar is one of five bars across NSW run by House of Pocket, with the idea of creating a place where people can relax on comfortable sofas while having a laugh and enjoying quality food and drinks.

Pocket Bar manager Ben Reekie said each of the five bars had its own identity, with Terrigal offering Australian tapas and coastal tiki cocktails.

However, he said all the bars shared similar qualities when it came to the service, approach and without the “bulls**t”.

“There’s nothing pretentious. We’re just trying to make it nice and easy,” he said.

“Our drinks are approachable and the idea is that you can also make them at home.”

He described the food as fresh, local and easy to eat, avoiding too much heavy fried foods.

“We like to pair the food with the cocktails, just like people do with beer and wine,” he said. “There’s a match for all meals.”

We sampled the most popular dish on the menu — the kingfish ceviche.

The sliced hiramasa kingfish is lightly cured in a Vietnamese citrus dressing served on a bed of avocado mousse. Just unbelievable, highlighting the natural flavours of the kingfish.

This was paired with the cocktail named Bit of Passion, with gin, peach, passionfruit and fresh citrus.

Next was the dry aged rib eye, cooked pink and served with butter and coffee jus.

A nice and easy to dish where you can just pick up the sliced, tender steak and dip it in the amazing sauce.

This came with the “don amongst brown drinks” called the Pacino with Woodford Reserve bourbon, amaretto, coffee, honey and bitters.

Mr Reekie said all cocktails are vegan friendly and they use a bamboo/wheat straw.

Live music is also a major attraction of the Pocket Bar on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Locally Grown is held on the last Sunday of each month where upcoming artists have the opportunity to secure a 45 minute slot.

There is also a DJ on Saturday nights from 10.30pm.
