A first look at vision for the Central Coast Mariners Football Club in Tuggerah has been revealed.
The club has released a site plan fly-through for its 2021-2025 vision of the club’s Centre of Excellence expansion in Tuggerah.
The video reveals the proposed staging of expanding the current site on Bryant Dr starting with a 120 room hotel with restaurant and rooftop bar, followed by a convention centre and carpark and an 8000sq m office with a childcare centre and gym.
The plans for the hotel have been in the wings for many years prior to the opening of the Centre of Excellence in 2016.
Plans are progressing on the major development, with the club indicating that there are more updates to come.
It comes as the Mariners have made a bid to purchase vacant bushland owned by Central Coast Council next to the Centre for Excellence.
The issue of the land sale, at 11-23 Wyong Rd, to Mariners FC Developments Pty Ltd is set to come to Tuesday’s council meeting with a recommendation to sell the land for “not less than the independent market valuation”.
A council report states that the Mariners have approached council to buy the land adjacent to the Centre of Excellence and use it as a vegetation buffer between their hotel proposal and Wyong Rd.
“The land is surplus to Council’s current and future requirements,” the council’s report states.
“The Mariners propose to continue the use of the Land as a vegetation buffer between their proposed Hotel and Wyong Rd which would also include a pedestrian link.
“Given the constraints of the Land, an open market sale would not lead to a desirable outcome.”
The council is supportive of the Mariners’ plans, stating that the proposed plans for the Centre of Excellence had the potential to increase employment and bring economic benefits to the Tuggerah Business Park, Westfield and Tuggerah retail centres as well as Central Coast Sports College.
