A second Central Coast resident returning from overseas has tested positive for COVID-19.

Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) has confirmed the resident is isolating in Sydney.

“This resident was diagnosed in hotel quarantine in Sydney, where they have remained in

isolation since arriving in Australia,” a spokeswoman said.

It comes after a coast woman, also returning from overseas, was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 30. She was quarantining in a Sydney hotel at the time of her diagnosis.

CCLHD has not revealed where either of the cases had travelled from.

Last week a south western Sydney cluster was linked to a Central Coast hydroponic farm.

The cluster of seven shared private transport to the farm where they worked for a period of time.

CCLHD was working with South Western Sydney Local Health District to manage the situation.

“Two Central Coast residents who live and work on the farm have been identified as close

contacts. Both have tested negative for COVID-19 and will remain in home isolation for two

weeks as a precaution,” the spokeswoman said.

The coast has remained COVID-19 free for more than one month and was given credit for its “harsh stance” on COVID-19 by Premier Gladys Berejiklian this week.

Ms Berejiklian commended the coast’s pubs and clubs on enforcing strict rules against Sydneysiders and Victorians and encouraged more venues to do the same.

Between 8pm on August 10 and 8pm on August 11, 18 new cases were recorded by NSW Health.

There were 20,104 tests conducted across the state in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 13,257 in the previous 24 hours.

Robertson federal Liberal MP Lucy Wicks said the latest returned traveller’s diagnosis was a timely reminder not to become complacent.

“Continue to social distance, where a mask and stay vigilant while around others,” she said.

“Importantly, if you are sick get tested and stay home.”
