Canberra Raider Tom Starling and brother enter not guilty pleas over alleged Terrigal brawl

NRL star Tom Starling and his brother did not have to appear in court as their lawyer entered not guilty pleas over an alleged melee outside a popular Terrigal rooftop bar in 2021.

Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling and his brother Josh have entered not guilty pleas over an alleged brawl outside a Terrigal bar.

Tom, Josh and Jackson Starling’s matter was mentioned at Gosford Local Court on Thursday with the Avoca Beach brothers excused from appearing before Magistrate Jennifer Price.

Their criminal lawyer Samar Singh-Panwar entered pleas of not guilty to Tom and Josh Starling’s charges of threaten/cause injury to potential juror/witness.

However they are yet to enter pleas to the remainder of their charges over the alleged incident outside Mumbo Jumbo’s in Terrigal on October 16 2021.

Tom is also facing charges of stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm and behaving in offensive manner in or near public place or school while Josh is charged with stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm, behaving in offensive manner in or near public place or school and resist or hinder police officer.

Brother Jackson, who is yet to enter pleas, is charged with behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school and two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.

Police allege Tom Starling was with his brothers and co-accused Chelsea Balzan, who lives at the same address as Tom, when they were refused entry to the popular cocktail bar Mumbo Jumbos due to number limits.

They further allege that the group became agitated and threatened the security manager a number of times before walking away.

Earlier this month, Ms Balzan pleaded guilty to stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm with her sentence set down for August 11.

The Starling brothers matter was adjourned to September 15, while they are also part heard in a hearing regarding an alleged brawl at Shady Palms in 2020.
