A two year old boy has been flown to John Hunter Hospital after being found floating in Tuggerah Lake at the Entrance today.

A two year old boy has been flown to John Hunter Hospital after being found floating in Tuggerah Lake at the Entrance today.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter paramedics and clinical team treated the youngster at the scene before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

With hot conditions continuing, Central Coast Surf Lifesaving director of lifesaving Brett Beswick said it was good to hear that the toddler as OK — but urged people to continue to take extra care around beaches and waterways.

Mr Beswick said there had already been dozens of rescues at Central Coast beaches over recent days, including more than 25 rescues at Avoca Beach alone.

He said this included people getting caught in rips, not swimming between the flags and several incidents where people were hit by surfboards.

Several people were hospitalised, including one girl who sustained a severe knock to the head from a surfboard.

“People need to think twice about what they are doing and know their limits,” Mr Beswick said.

“Speak to the local lifeguards and familiarise yourself with local conditions,” he said.

“Swim between the flags.”

Mr Beswick said patrol crews were gearing up for a busy day on local beaches tomorrow.
