A woman will face trial some time next year after pleading not guilty to kidnapping two teenage boys, hitting them with a plank of wood and threatening to kill them if they went to police.

Nicole Anne Lawrence, of Doyalson, faced Wyong Local Court on Tuesday where she formally pleaded not guilty to two counts of detaining someone in company with intent to cause actual bodily harm and one count of intimidation.

Two back up counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm will also be determined when the matter goes to trial along with one count of refusing to tell police who was in her car.

However the court heard one charge of robbery armed with an offensive weapon was withdrawn and dismissed.

Charge sheets tendered in court allege the 47-year-old detained two teenage boys on January 25 at Blue Haven before assaulting them and threatening to kill them.

She was arrested the following day.

At her bail application in February the court heard Lawrence allegedly drove to an oval at 1am and demanded two boys, aged 13 and 14, get in her car before driving them to another park where she allegedly threatened to kill them and assaulted them with a plank of wood.

Magistrate Kirralee Perry said police alleged Lawrence was acting “in company” with up to seven other people crammed in her car at the time and demanded the two boys get in before threatening to “break their knees” with a ratchet strap.

Ms Perry said police alleged Lawrence drove the boys to “under a tunnel” where she threatened them with a plank of wood and “hit one [boy] three or four times before taking their phones off them”.

“You’ve then threatened to run them over [and] if they go to police you will stab them in their sleep,” Ms Perry said.

The magistrate said the boys were forced to hide in the bush and when they did eventually make it back to their parents — who reported it to police the following day — officers took them back to the spot where “police found a plank of wood and their phones where they said they would be”.

Lawrence’s bail was continued and she was adjourned to face Gosford District Court on October 31 to fix a trial date, which is expected to be some time next year.
