Berkeley Vale: Jack Williams faces court over alleged possession of drugs and explosives

Berkeley Vale’s Jack Williams, 20, was shopping at Tuggerah when he was arrested after police allegedly found drugs and explosives at his home.

A young Berkeley Vale man faced court for the first time after allegedly being found with knives, fireworks and drugs.

Jack Williams, 20, appeared before Wyong Local Court on Wednesday where his matter was briefly mentioned before the registrar.

Williams, who was supported by his father, was dressed in a suit as he faced court for the first time after being charged over the alleged possession of knives, fireworks, and drugs.

It comes after Tuggerah Lakes Police District’s Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home on Windsor Road, Berkeley Vale, about 10.15am on June 30.

Police allege they located and seized a number of items from the home including cannabis seeds, cannabis, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) tablets, fireworks, two prohibited knives and three boxes of disposable vapes. The items seized will undergo forensic examination.

About 2pm the same day, police officers attended a shopping centre on Wyong Road, Tuggerah, and arrested Williams.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, possess explosive, and deal with proceeds of crime.

Williams’s defence lawyer asked for the matter to be adjourned, indicating that Williams would enter a plea to the charges on the next occasion.

He also requested Williams be referred to The Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) program, which is a voluntary, pre-plea program for adults who have issues related to their alcohol and other drug use.

Williams’s bail was continued and his matter was adjourned until August 3.
