Bateau Bay: Senior Constable Jessica Brooks pleads not guilty to stalking, destroying bed frame

A female police officer from the Central Coast has denied stalking her former partner or damaging their bed frame, a court has heard.

A senior constable has faced court charged with domestic violence related stalking and destroying property.

Jessica Lea Brooks, 34, of Gorokan, faced Wyong Local Court on Thursday where her solicitor Jayne Tayler entered not guilty pleas on her client’s behalf.

Charge sheets tendered in court allege Sen Con Brooks intentionally or recklessly destroyed or damaged the bed frame belonging to her and her former partner some time in 2019 at their then Bateau Bay home.

The charges further allege Sen Con Brooks stalked or intimidated her former partner with intent to cause him fear a few days before Christmas on December 21, 2022.

The charges come after officers attached to Northern Region command commenced an investigation in February of this year into alleged historical domestic violence offences.

Following the investigation Sen Con Brooks was charged with the alleged offences on August 12.

The Crown prosecutor sought for the criminal charges to join an existing apprehended violence order application — being taken out by police for the same alleged victim — which has been set down for hearing on May 2.

NSW Police issued a statement in August saying Sen Con Brooks’ employment status was under review.
