The Bato Yard Skate Park was only a stone’s throw away but this motorist managed to perform a pretty impressive rail slide in a Ford SUV.

The young female driver lost control about 9.30am on a straight section of the Central Coast Highway adjacent to Bay Village shopping centre.

Police said the woman was trapped in the vehicle “by her circumstances rather than compression” but was freed a short time later.

The Central Coast Highway was closed in a southbound direction while tow truck operators salvaged and removed the vehicle.

A witness said he was surprised how far she managed to travel along the guardrail.

The woman’s car was lucky to stop just short of the pedestrian underpass connecting Edsacc and the shops.

Police are investigating what caused the woman to lose control.
