Aurrum Aged Care has announced the completion of its extensive $3.8 million refurbishment of it’s Norah Head facility, where the residents themselves got a say in the decor and landscaping choices.
Aurrum Norah Head is billed as a homely and boutique aged care residence featuring a new entry and reception area as well as a new main dining room with interior designer features.
The dining room has a striking art piece of nearby Norah Head lighthouse which was chosen by the residents to highlight their local area.
There is a new indoor/outdoor cafe with deluxe, unlimited coffee for residents and their families.
All 53 resident rooms are single rooms with private ensuite and have doors that lead straight onto the secure beautiful natural surrounds.
One of the highlights of the sunny landscaped gardens is a new inviting central courtyard.
Aurrum Norah Head is situated right on nature’s doorstep, idyllically placed near the ocean and natural bushland.
Aurrum Norah Head general manager Karen Bailey said she was delighted with the renovations.
“We are blessed with a truly unique care home and the transformation is wonderful,” she said.
“The home is fresh and modern and retains the inviting and friendly ambience that has always made the home special and very popular.”
Aurrum Norah Head resident Noeline Brown is also thrilled about the refurbishment, with residents having the opportunity to input into the new design.
“We made choices regarding artwork, curtains and gardens,” Ms Brown said.
“You can hear the sea at night, there’s always a breeze and it’s a nice little haven. I know I made the right decision moving here — it feels like home.”
Aurrum is one of Australia’s larger residential aged care providers with a portfolio of
about 1,000 facilities across NSW and Victoria.
Aurrum also has aged care homes at Erina and Kincumber.
