Assault alleged in Erina Street Gosford
A man was due to face Gosford Local Court today after allegedly seriously assaulting a man who later was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
A man will face Gosford Local Court today after allegedly seriously assaulting a man who later was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
The man aged 20 has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm after the alleged incident which took place about 8pm yesterday (Tuesday).
Police allege a 57-year-old man and the 20-year-old man had a verbal exchange inside a shopping centre on Erina Street.
The younger man left the premises.
He remained outside when a short time later the older man, also left the shopping centre.
Police said the two men became involved in a fight.
The younger man allegedly assaulted the older man after which he collapsed hitting his head on the footpath and was unconscious.
Witnesses detained the younger man until the arrival of officers from Brisbane Water Police District who were nearby.
A crime scene was established and the 20-year-old man was arrested.
The injured man was treated at the scene and conveyed to Gosford Hospital and then transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
The man was bail refused to appear at Gosford Local Court today.
