Albion shooting: duo arrested at Central Coast Maccas
A man and a woman wanted in relation to a shooting and fatal car chase at Albion, south of Wollongong, have been arrested in dramatic scenes at Central Coast McDonald’s.
A man and a woman wanted in relation to a shooting and fatal car chase at Albion Park Rail, south of Wollongong, have been arrested in dramatic scenes at Lisarow McDonald’s.
Tactical police suited up around the corner in Macdonalds Rd before swooping on the pair about 2pm as they sat at the fast food outlet on Parsons Rd.
The man and woman were wanted following a dramatic pursuit on Friday night, which ended when a Ford Territory slammed into a petrol tanker outside the BP station on the corner of Creole St and the Princes Hwy at 2.25am on Saturday.
Father of twin girls, Daniel Clulow, was killed in the collision just four days shy of his 28th birthday.
Mr Clulow, who lived in Berkeley with his girlfriend, was at a party with friends in the Illawarra region when one of his mates became involved in a confrontation with another group.
He jumped in a Ford Territory with his sister and two other friends, a young woman and a man.
Police have been told another car gave chase on the Princes Hwy at Albion Park and shots were fired at Mr Clulow’s car.
A witness from a nearby petrol station confirmed hearing gunshots just before the crash.
Mr Clulow was killed and the passengers understood to include his sister and another relative, were rushed to hospital.
The driver of the Ford Territory, a 25-year-old woman, was flown to St George Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District established Strike Force Warrane to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Inquiries suggest the Ford Territory was being pursued by another vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla, at the time of the crash.
The man and the woman, Andrew Russell, 34 and Holly Green, 25, who were arrested this afternoon have been taken to Gosford Police Station where they are assisting police.
Inquires to locate another man, Darren Butler, 27, are continuing.
Police allege the trio were in the silver Corolla at the time of the crash and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Leanne Shooter, a close family friend of Mr Clulow’s, said “I have been told they were being chased and someone pulled guns on them. His sister sped up to get away and crashed.”
