A man charged with doing a burnout and speeding 127km/h in a 70km/h zone has pleaded not guilty to driving recklessly, furiously or in a dangerous manner.
Aaron Russell King, 24, of Buff Point, was listed to face Wyong Local Court on Monday charged with doing a burnout in his Holden Commodore with registration plates “FAT 74Z”.
Tuggerah Lakes police were patrolling in the area when they allegedly saw Mr King doing burnouts and speeding on Wyong Rd at Mardi about 11.20pm on March 7.
Police stopped the Holden nearby and spoke with Mr King. A 19-year-old woman and a seven-month-old girl were passengers in the vehicle at the time.
During an inspection of the vehicle, a number of defects were identified.
In addition to being charged with “prolong/sustain loss of traction”, speeding more than 45km/h over the limit and reckless driving he was also issued four infringement notices for failing to notify authority of change of ownership and operating a vehicle with defective tyres, defective suspension and in breach of defect notice.
His licence was suspended on the spot.
A “child at risk notification” was submitted to the Department of Family and Community Services.
Mr King’s solicitor entered a plea of not guilty to the driving in a recklessly, furiously or a dangerous manner charge but did not enter any pleas to the speeding or burnout charges.
The matter returns to court next month.
