A woman has been arrested after allegedly fleecing an elderly dementia patient in her care out of more than $20,000.
The arrest follows a month-long investigation following reports an 87-year-old Yass woman had been defrauded
On Wednesday morning, a 51-year old woman was arrested at Yass Police Station and charged with dishonestly obtaining property by deception and goods in custody.
NSW police allege the 51-year-old woman was a carer for the older woman at an aged care facility in Yass.
The woman allegedly used the patient’s credit card in NSW and ACT over a 12-month period, and spent $23,000.
She was granted conditional bail to appear at Yass Local Court on December 16.
Police said they were working with the Yass based age care facility where the woman worked to see if other patients were defrauded.
