Police investigate ATM ram-raid from Majura Park Shopping Centre
A stolen ATM was found lying on a busy Canberra road as firefighters responded to a vehicle fire soon after a dramatic shopping centre ram-raid.

A stolen ATM linked to a dramatic shopping centre ram-raid was found lying on a busy Canberra road as firefighters responded to a vehicle fire.
While investigating the fire, police found an ATM that appeared to have fallen from the vehicle onto Majura Rd.
Police believe the same vehicle was involved in a ram-raid at the Majura Park Shopping Centre in the early hours of Friday morning
Officers allege the ram-raid happened at 4am and say the ATM was stolen from the shopping centre.
ACT Policing and ACT Fire and Rescue were called to a vehicle fire at Majura At 6am on Friday.
A statement from police said there were no reported injuries and investigators were calling for any witnesses to phone Crime Stoppers.
Police have not provided details about the make and model of the vehicle for investigative reasons.
A statement from Majura Park Shopping Centre said it was business as usual despite the ram raid.
“Thankfully no one was injured, and there is minimal damage,” the statement said.
“There is no impact on the office precinct or other businesses in Majura Park.”
Canberrans took to social media to share dramatic images of the crime scene at Majura Park Shopping Centre.
On the Canberra Notice Board Group Facebook page locals expressed their shock, including one person who compared the images to the famous Blues Brothers pursuit scene.

“Must have thought it was a drive thru.”
“They better not have damaged Ms Ba Co.”
“What is happening to Canberra? It used to be a lovely and safe place to live.”
Owned by the Canberra Airport Group, Majura Park Shopping Centre is home to Canberra’s largest Woolworths, Costco, Aldi, Big W and more than 30 specialty stores.
