A Rivett man has subjected a woman to a night of terror during an “ice episode” where he stripped his clothes off, assaulted her and chased her out of her home.

Petar Aleksander Stankovich visited the woman’s home in Kempsey on January 21, 2022 on the state’s mid-north coast after reconnecting when things took a disturbing turn.

Agreed facts tendered to Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday revealed the 46-year-old suddenly stopped talking and began to write messages on a notepad.

Court documents state Stankovich then stripped his clothes off and started “reefing at his genitals” which was described as “brutal” by the victim.

The victim suffered a panic attack and fell to the ground. The Rivett man then lent down and “squeezed” the victim forcefully around her body.

Police say Stankovich then grabbed a skateboard and smashed a plastic storage container.

While this occurred the woman escaped through the front door and called the police, while Stankovich followed in the nude. He then returned to the unit and could be seen by the victim walking around her unit.

The victim decided to run back inside and pulled the 46-year-old down the stairs.

Police say Stankovich turned and grabbed the woman “forcefully” in a hug while continually saying he was in a psychosis. When he released his grip the woman escaped and locked him outside.

Stankovich then broke the front chain lock before police arrived and was taken to hospital.

Defence solicitor Kim Bolas told the court Stankovich had taken ice that night and had an “extremely bad reaction” which led to him being psychotic.

The court heard Stankovich had stopped his drug use and begun counselling.

Magistrate Roger Clisdell said the Rivett man’s “ice episode” would’ve been “terrifying” for the victim.

Stankovich pleaded guilty to common assault, destroy or damage property and failing to appear in accordance with bail and was sentenced to an 18 month community correction order.

He was also fined $200, with convictions recorded.
