The statement of facts allege Mr Beazley hosted a New Year’s Eve party on December 31 2021 at his Ngunnawal residence.

His former partner and an infant child attended the party breaching the defendant’s bail conditions.

The complainant told him to stop and he then allegedly shoved her with force, grabbed a child, and ran from the house.

The complainant and another guest ran out to retrieve the infant when Mr Beazley allegedly punched his former partner in the face causing her left eye to bruise.

The incident was reported to police on January 1 by the mother of the defendant.

He was arrested for failing to stop for police and for driving while unregistered as his registration expired on December 24.

He said his client was the sole breadwinner for the alleged victim and their infant child. and was the only carer for his grandmother.

The defence solicitor told the court his client had a stable delivery job at Food Forum in Belconnen and has a lease on a property in Ngunnawal and would lose his job and income if placed on remand.

However Magistrate Peter Morrison denied Mr Beazley bail.

According to the statement of facts tendered to the court, Mr Beazley had signed a 12-month good behaviour order in July 2021.

On December 21, Mr Beazley was released on bail following an incident that occurred on September 17, where he allegedly dragged his partner while in a headlock and covered her mouth and then allegedly attempted to smother her using a pillow for forty seconds.

Mr Beazley pleaded not guilty to the two charges of choking and the matter will go to trial in July 2022.

Under those bail conditions Mr Beazley cannot contact his former partner or drink alcohol.
