A Canberra-based director at Deloitte has faced court after being charged with multiple sex offences following a BDSM hook-up where he allegedly refused to set a ‘safe word’.

A director at Deloitte has pleaded not guilty to a raft of sexual offences he allegedly committed during a BDSM hook-up.

Weston Creek man Cameron James Tannock, 50, has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of sexual intercourse without consent, sexual assault in the second degree, an act of indecency without consent and forcibly confining someone.

According to the police facts tendered to ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, Mr Tannock met a woman aged in her 40s on Red Hot Pie, a “swingers” dating app, on June 8 and began communicating with her via Kik, a messaging app.

The documents allege the pair discussed a shared interest in BDSM and what they would want out of potential sexual encounters.

Police allege on June 12 Mr Tannock asked the complainant to send him images and a video of what she wanted him to do to her.

He allegedly told her over Kik “you know I’m going to photograph and video you” to which the complainant said “yes”.

Police allege on June 13 the complaint sent through five images of herself clothed, three of which depicted her in lingerie.

Mr Tannock allegedly told her to wear “the orange one” and then sent a test stating because she was unable to follow instructions he would have to punish her with a belt or with public sex.

The complainant allegedly said she would choose the belt.

Later that same day Mr Tannock allegedly sent the woman an image of what the belt looked like, alongside an image of a woman with significant bruising to her behind.

Police allege the woman told Mr Tannock “hmm that’s past my limits I don’t do that [ …] maybe you’re too hardcore dom for me”.

Mr Tannock allegedly responded: “No. I’m not. You just need to be pushed. Don’t worry I will adjust so you come along gradually”.

The woman allegedly told Mr Tannock: “I won’t do it in public and I won’t be spanked that hard, I do have to work in general life”.

The pair arranged to meet up at 6.30pm that night at Lyons Shops car park.

The complainant allegedly met Mr Tannock and went into his car where she performed oral sex while he drove to his Weston Creek Residence.

After arriving at his house Mr Tannock allegedly locked the front door.

Police allege the woman attempted to discuss the use of a “safe word” with Mr Tannock, and he allegedly told her “you don’t get a safe word when I’m punishing you”.

“Safe words” are commonly used in the BDSM community as a signal to stop.

The court documents give graphic detail of multiple alleged incidents of oral, vaginal and anal sexual intercourse without consent.

Additionally Mr Tannock allegedly forced the woman to lie on top of a coffee table and belted her.

Police allege Mr Tannock took numerous photos and videos of the woman performing sexual acts and during the belting.

It is alleged he threatened to share the videos and photos of the woman.

The woman told police during the belting she was in tears and told him to stop, and alleged during the incident he looked at her “with evil in his eyes”.

The woman told police throughout her ordeal she was unable to leave the house.

Police allege after the ordeal Mr Tannock drove her to her car where she then discussed the incident with her friends.

She then filed a police report on June 14 and Mr Tannock was arrested on Thursday.

In court on Friday Mr Tannock’s lawyer Satomi Hanon from Aulich Law applied for bail, which was ultimately granted by Magistrate Louise Taylor.

Under bail conditions, the Deloitte director cannot possess any devices which connect to the internet, cannot contact the complainant, cannot visit one suburb in South Canberra and has to abide by a 7pm to 7am curfew.

The court heard Mr Tannock has lived in Canberra on and off since 1991, has worked at Deloitte since October 2021, and is engaged but does not live with his partner.

The man will face court again for a pre hearing mention on August 26.
