The case of a man who allegedly groped the bum of a teenage girl at the Gungahlin Village shopping complex has been adjourned for over a month at the ACT Magistrates Court.

Kwabena Jesse Amoo-Appau, 31, from Moncrieff, has been charged with one count of an act of indecency without consent.

Mr Amoo-Appau appeared briefly for a mention at the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.

His solicitor applied for an adjournment so the defence could access health records of the defendant.

Magistrate Robert Cook adjourned the matter to March and extended the defendant’s bail until his next appearance.

Mr Amoo-Appau has not entered a plea.

He previously appeared in court on January 6 when he was granted bail by Magistrate Glenn Theakston.

Mr Amoo-Appau is due to reappear in court on March 11.

Statement of facts tendered to the court allege Mr Amoo-Appau groped the teenage complainant in the early evening of November 11 at the Gungahlin Village shopping centre.

Police allege the teenage realised she was being followed by the defendant at 6.20pm when she left the complex near the First Choice Liquor shop.

Police allege just before she reached Hinder St, Mr Amoo-Appau grabbed the complainant’s bum with his left hand and then walked off in the opposite direction to her.

The complainant’s mother soon picked her up and the pair eventually located Mr Amoo-Appau.

The teen’s mother allegedly confronted Mr Amoo-Appau and said: “Excuse me mate did you just touch my daughter?”

According to police, the defendant allegedly said “yes”.

“That’s not OK, she’s just a little girl,” the complainant’s mother allegedly replied.

The man then allegedly said: “Yes, sorry.”

Police searched Mr Amoo-Appau’s home on December 3 where they found clothing fitting the description from the complainant.

Cops arrested him on January 4 over a month after the search warrant.
