Goulburn: Paedophile Michael James Buckmaster demands to be castrated
Self-described “monster” Michael James Buckmaster, serving jail time for abhorrent child sex crimes, has written a shocking letter to a judge begging he be castrated.

A “monster” paedophile who is treated like a “dog” in Goulburn prison has written a shocking letter to a district court judge demanding he be castrated.
Michael James Buckmaster, 48, backed up his demand with a “tantrum” in the Queanbeyan District Court on Friday, angrily telling Judge Laura Wells he wanted someone to “just chop the whole f**king thing off”.
Buckmaster has been behind bars for nearly a decade, having previously been found guilty of heinous child sex crimes, and was in court to be sentenced on a fresh charge of persistently sexually abusing a child.
Details of his crimes cannot be published for legal reasons.
Buckmaster, giving evidence by video link from the jail, said of his penis: “I don’t want it anymore”.
“Yes, I’m genuine, I want to be castrated,” he said.
“The same as what we do to the lambs when we mark them.”
A psychologist has diagnosed Buckmaster as a paedophile.
The court heard chemical, rather than surgical castration was a possible option.
The only people who still visit him at Goulburn jail are his elderly parents, he said, and he has been unable to tell them face-to-face that he is a paedophile.
“I’m pretty sure they do (know),” he said.
Buckmaster says he wants to spend whatever part of his life he lives outside jail restoring furniture and growing heirloom vegetables.
Of his offending, Buckmaster said: “I’m truly sorry that I let this happen, that I let the evil side take over”.
He said he remembered having a blow-up in the cells at Goulburn police station and yelling at his barrister, Geoffrey Denman, saying “I am not a paedophile” when he was taken through the evidence proving his previous offending.
“But I am a paedophile … 110 per cent, yes,” he said.
“The little bit of good in me didn’t want to believe it.”
Buckmaster said the “rapists and murderers” he shared Goulburn jail with saw paedophiles as
“putrid dogs and pieces of s**t that should be trod on”.
“I have come to terms with the monster that I am and the evil that is inside me,” he said.
Of his victims, Buckmaster said: “I did love them but there was a good side of me that loved them, then the evil side took over.”
Buckmaster’s latest admitted offending means he could be sentenced to a maximum of life in jail.
Judge Wells will sentence Buckmaster on Wednesday.
