Kristian Mynott: Actor in Total Control series raped escorts, jailed
An actor who appeared in ABC’s hit show Total Control has been jailed for raping two male escorts in Canberra, who he flew in from NSW and Victoria, promising to pay them thousands for overnight romps.

A part time actor and model has been jailed for raping two “rent boys”, who he flew in to Canberra for overnight sex romps but never paid.
Kristian James Mynott, 42, will be behind bars until at least December next year after being jailed on Monday for the two rapes.
Mynott has previously had roles in the ABC’s political drama, Total Control, and has been the poster boy for an ad campaign for Canberra’s bus network.
The ACT Supreme Court heard Mynott sent his first victim a text message saying: “Hi, I’m looking to fly a rent boy or two to Canberra for an overnight stay” and said he was willing to pay for flights and pay the man $1500 for his services.
Mynott used stolen credit card details to pay for the flight and for the sex worker’s chauffer-driven car to the Rex Hotel.
The man was never paid and Mynott — who had given the man a fake name — did not answer any of the worker’s calls or text messages.
Mynott has previously been sentenced to an intensive corrections order after racking up more than $11,000 in expenses on stolen cards, the details of which he skimmed while working a menial job at Canberra Firewood Supplies while trying to make it as an actor.
Mynott’s failure to pay the sex workers amounted to rape because their consent to have sex with him was conditional on them being paid.
In a second case, Mynott arranged for a Victorian sex worker to fly to Canberra, saying the man would be paid $2000.
When the sex worker was told he would have to take part in a threesome, Mynott offered an extra $500, and said he would have to withdraw cash from an ATM.
Mynott left, and when the sex worker went to his apartment to chase the money, Mynott had left for work.
The sex worker reported Mynott to police, and Mynott falsely told investigators he didn’t know the man was an escort.
Court-ordered psychological reports concluded Mynott used sex to boost his mood, and that his drug habit likely increased his libido.
Chief Justice Helen Murrell sentenced Mynott to three years and four months jail.
Mynott will be eligible for parole in December 2021.
