A former bikie boss who had an alleged hit out on him says he can’t remember having his finger shot off in a firefight and barely remembers his garage torched by a group of intruders.

Former Canberra Comancheros boss Peter Zdravkovic told the ACT Supreme Court he “sort of, not really” remembered police showing up at his Carter Cres house in Calwell on June 28 last year, after what prosecutors now allege was a failed bikie assassination.

When asked if he remembered the damage to his black BMW and black Mercedes-Benz, Mr Zdravkovic said: “I think the fire destroyed them”.

He said he did not remember how the fire started.

He said he couldn’t remember whether he tried to put the fire out with a garden hose while wearing nothing but a pair of shorts.

He said he did not remember how he lost the tip of his index finger, but said “someone said a dog bit it off”.

The prosecution case is that Mr Zdravkovic lost his finger in a firefight with the four intruders, who came armed with shotguns and who set fire to the property.

The lone accused, Axel Sidaros, 25, has pleaded not guilty to a raft of charges including attempted murder and arson.

Sidaros denies being one of the masked intruders responsible for the attack.

Mr Zdravkovic told the court yesterday he thought he heard “firecrackers outside” while naked in the shower in the moments before the attack.

“I don’t remember talking to police at all,” he said.

The former Comanchero said he “really can’t remember” whether he left the gang.

When asked by Crown Prosecutor Trent Hickey whether it was a part of gang culture “not to snitch or give information” and whether that was why he was “having a serious lack of memory” in the witness box, Mr Zdravkovic said: “I ain’t no gang member, and no, I don’t remember what happened”.

Mr Zdravkovic said he couldn’t remember whether a man named Pedro was his half brother.

Towards the end of prolonged questioning on Friday, Mr Zdravkovic said he was “getting angry”.

He said after the alleged attempted hit job he put up razor wire on the back fence of his house because “my next door neighbour had a dog and dogs like jumping the fence”.

He said he remembered “something along the lines” of Australian Federal Police officers warning him in the weeks before the alleged attack that there was a hit out on him.

The trial continues.
