One of Australia’s top Nomad outlaw bikie gang members has revealed he resorts to a “debasing” life as a male sex worker to fund his meth habit.
Alexander Victor Miller, 29, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Canberra chapter of the Nomads, fronted the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday after being arrested with 15 grams of meth and $11,000 in allegedly tainted cash over the weekend.
Millers’s lawyer Kate Gunther told the court the $11,000 was from Miller’s role as a male prostitute.
Ms Gunther said her client — a former truck driver — had turned to the sex trade when he lost his licence for drug driving.
Court records showed Miller “became agitated and emotional, his eyes watering and his voice quivering” when talking to police during his arrest.
Ms Gunther said: “He has a demonstrable drug problem, he uses every day.”
“Sex work is not his passion, as you would probably expect … he does not enjoy it, in fact he considers it to be debasing himself.”
Miller, of Kingston in the ACT, was supported in court by girlfriend, who Ms Gunther said was willing to support him while he was on bail.
Miller also faced a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, which saw him fined and disqualified from driving over a string of minor traffic charges.
Ms Gunther told the sentencing hearing Miller had breached his driving disqualification because he needed to get to jobs “as part of his job as a call-out prostitute”.
“Without meaning to insult sex workers, Mr Miller instructs the work is humiliating,” Ms Gunther said.
“It is at least positive that Mr Miller’s means of funding his habit is lawful.”
Prosecutor Patrick Dixon told the court Miller had a serious criminal record and corrections officers had been trying to speak with him since mid-2019, when he stopped reporting to them.
Magistrate Louise Taylor rejected Miller’s girlfriend’s offer to help the heavily tattooed bikie comply with his bail conditions.
“He’s an adult … he shouldn’t need another adult to tell him what to do,” Ms Taylor said.
“His biggest problem is he doesn’t do what he is told to do.”
Ms Taylor said Miller had an “appalling history for not complying with court orders and the like” and refused him bail.
Miller was remanded in custody and will return to court on January 30.
