A man charged with exposing himself to a group of teenage girls near Officeworks in Canberra has been hit with a fresh charge of indecent exposure.

Arun Kumar Venugopalan, 38, fronted the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday where he was formally charged with a second count of indecent exposure stemming.

Both charges date from allegations he exposed himself near the Fyshwick Officeworks on October 17 last year.

His lawyer, Paul Edmonds, formally entered not guilty pleas on his client’s behalf.

Venugopalan, of Page, has previously told reporters the allegation he flashed teenage girls was “completely untrue”.

Police say one of the group of girls who Venugopalan allegedly exposed himself to saw him again the next day and wrote down his number plate.

Venugopalan was arrested at home before spending the night in the city watch house.

Mr Edmonds told the court Venugopalan denied being the man who exposed himself to the girls.

The case was listed for a two-day hearing in July.

Outside court, Mr Edmonds told Venugopalan: “yes, it’s unfortunate that the media were all here again”.
