Private schoolboy turned wannabe bikie hitman Axel Sidaros has been jailed for 14 years over his role in a failed hit job on the former president of the Canberra chapter of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

Sidaros, 25, was last year found guilty of a string of offences including the attempted murder of Peter Zdravkovic and the arson attack on his Calwell home.

Sidaros, the son of respected Canberra McDonalds mogul Hani Sidaros, was one of four masked men who stormed Mr Zdravkovic’s home in June 2018, peppering the house with shotgun blasts and firebombing cars in the back of the house.

Mr Zdravkovic had sparked a feud among the Canberra chapter of the Comanchero bikie gang by burning his club regalia when he departed the gang, and posting photos of the charred remnants online.

He was naked in the shower when Sidaros and the three other unknown men arrived at his home, and returned fire with a gun he had stashed in his ceiling cavity, but had the tip of his finger blown off in the firefight.

Sidaros was arrested after at Melbourne airport while trying to leave the country in September 2018, and in an elaborate police sting later condemned as “unacceptable”, confessed to an undercover cop planted in his cell in the Canberra watch house.

The confession was not allowed into evidence at trial.

Sidaros was also recorded boasting that Canberra police were “sh*t c*nts”, and that the other three men involved in the attempted murder of Mr Zdravkovic would never be caught because they didn’t use their own guns in the attack.

Sidaros described to the officer how he had sided against Mr Zdravkovic in a rift in the gang, “and a couple of the boys later on … one night we went to the pres’s house …”.

On Wednesday, ACT Supreme Court Chief Justice Helen Murrell sentenced Sidaros to 14 years in jail and ordered he pay $20,000 to Mr Zdravkovic for the damage to the house.

Sidaros, a former Canberra Grammar student, will be eligible for parole in 2026.
