Hardened Canberra bikie Alex Miller went missing for much of Easter Monday, prompting police and his family to fear for his safety amid ongoing tensions in the national capital’s bikie underworld.

Miller, the former sergeant-at-arms of the powerful Canberra chapter of the Nomads bikie gang, had been out of jail since last Thursday, and had been revealed as a key player in a plot to topple the gang’s national president, Mick Clark, from his power.

Miller, 30, was seen at the Fadden shops in Canberra’s southern suburbs on Monday morning, but could not be reached by his family, who reported him missing to police.

Police in a statement on Monday evening said they and his family held “grave concerns” for Miller’s safety, and that he should not be approached if seen, although they did not say what the specific concerns were or why he should not be approached.

“Police and Alex’s family have serious concerns for his welfare and are requesting the public’s urgent assistance in locating him,” the statement said.

“If you see Alex, please do not approach him.”

He was found shortly before 8.30pm, and police said he was “safe and well”.

In an email from behind bars, Miller said it was “time to dethrone the King” and topple Mr Clark as Nomads national president, which he said he would help do with the backing of the gang’s Melbourne and Blacktown chapters.

“They hate Mick,” he wrote.

“I’ll take Canberra and the boys interstate will take back Australia.”

Clark also described the Canberra chapter of the gang as “an embarrassment” under Mr Clark’s leadership.

The ABC reported over the weekend that Miller had been kicked out of the Nomads since being released from jail.

The Canberra Star is not suggesting in any way that Mr Clark would seek revenge on Miller, or would take part in any kind of unlawful reprisals.

Miller was the subject of massive media attention when he was arrested in January $31,000 and 15g of meth on him.

He told arresting police the money was from his work as a male prostitute, an excuse police believe may be a false attempt to cover up a drug trafficking operation, according to court records.

Miller has been the target of a shooting attack, allegedly perpetrated by two local members of the rival Comanchero bikie gang, including its sergeant-at-arms, Aofangatukau Langi, who is behind bars having been refused bail over his alleged offending.

Miller is a former Comanchero.

Since Miller’s arrest in January, his partner, Natasha Rayner, has also been the subject of an allegedly targeted, bikie-linked carjacking.
