Nomads sergeant-at-arms Alexander Victor Miller target of home invasion

The sergeant-at-arms of the Canberra chapter of the Nomads bikie gang and male prostitute was the target of an armed home invasion. Police allege it was carried out by a member of the Comancheros.

Aofangatukau Fatafehi Finau Langi, 30, arrives at the ACT Magistrates Court last year. He is now charged with a home invasion, arson and shooting attack on the home of Nomads sergeant-at-arms Alexander Miller.

The male prostitute and the sergeant-at-arms of the Canberra chapter of the Nomads bikie gang was the target of an armed home invasion, which police allege was carried out by a member of a Comancheros rival.

Comancheros member Aofangatukau Fatafehi Finau Langi, 31, fronted the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being arrested at his home in Kaleen in the early hours of the morning and charged with a string of offences relating to the November attack.

Langi fronted court briefly on Wednesday afternoon, where he did not apply for bail, which Magistrate Beth Campbell formally refused.

He did not enter pleas and is expected to apply for bail on Friday, when more details about the case against him are likely to be aired.

Only brief details of the allegations against Langi were revealed in court on Wednesday.

It is alleged Langi took part in the invasion of Miller’s Chirnside Pl, Kambah, home on the night of November 21 last year.

Langi is accused of burglary, arson, participating in a criminal group, and committing an act endangering life, among other charges.

The attack on Miller’s house – which police also allege endangered the lives of both Miller and his girlfriend, Natasha Rayner – was the subject of a months-long probe by the ACT’s anti-bikie unit, Taskforce Nemesis.

Neither Miller nor Ms Rayner were injured in the attack, but police at the time said there was damage to the home’s entryway and living area.

Ms Rayner was earlier this week the victim of an allegedly targeted carjacking, in which she was choked and her friend’s car stolen. There is no suggestion the most recent targeting of Ms Rayner is linked to Langi.

Miller, who works as a male prostitute, is currently behind bars on remand on unrelated drugs charges.

Acting Detective Superintendent Matthew Reynolds on Wednesday told reporters anti-bikie investigations were often made more difficult by a code of silence among gang members.

“These matters are quite complex in the investigation. In many of these occasions the victims and the offenders do not cooperate with police and do not assist us with our inquiries,” he said.

“I believe its testament to ACT police that we have been able to gather enough evidence in relation to this offence to charge (Langi).”

Detective Supt Reynolds said police were still seeking information about a silver, late model Mazda 626 which investigators believed was related to the home invasion.

Any information can be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or police on 131 444.
