A MAN who allegedly flashed a group of teenage girls out the front of a Canberra Officeworks store has been granted bail, to live at an address just over 100 metres from another Officeworks branch.

Arun Kumar Venugopalan, 38, of Page, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday morning after spending the night in the police lockup.

Venugopalan is accused of indecently exposing himself to a group of three teenage girls out the front of Officeworks in Fyshwick on Thursday.

The court on Monday heard one of the 14-year-old girls recognised Venugopalan the next day and took down his license plate.

Venugopalan was arrested at home on Sunday.

Magistrate James Stewart granted the alleged flasher bail on a series of strict conditions, after his lawyer argued Venugopalan was needed at home to look after his five-year-old daughter, and had an online exam to complete as part of his masters degree in computer science at an American university.

Among his bail conditions, Venugopalan is banned from being near Fyshwick Officeworks.

He is required to live at an address in Page which is just over 100 metres from the store’s Belconnen branch.

Outside court, Venugopalan said the allegations were “completely untrue”.

The matter returns to court on November 14.
