Two men have been arrested in Moss Vale for allegedly supplying drugs throughout the Southern Highlands.
A 36-year-old man and a 55-year-old man have been charged with 70 drug offences after their Moss Vale homes were searched by police.
After an extensive investigation into the supply of methamphetamine in the region, police conducted raids on two homes on Albany Rd and Kirkham Rd in Moss Vale early yesterday morning.
The first raid began at 6.45am, with police allegedly locating methamphetamine, cannabis, electronic scales, cash, a mobile phone and an extendable baton.
The second search was conducted not long afterwards and police allegedly seized cannabis, a mobile phone and other electronic devices.
Social media reports say police and forensic units were still swarming on Kirkham Rd in Moss Vale yesterday morning past 10am.
The 36-year-old man was charged with 60 offences, including 55 counts of supplying a prohibited drug, ongoing supply of a prohibited drug, conducting a drug premises, possessing a prohibited drug, dealing with the proceeds of a crime, and possessing a prohibited weapon.
The 55-year-old man was charged with 10 counts of supplying a prohibited drug and possessing a prohibited drug.
Detective Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie said police believe there were other people involved in the alleged drug ring.
“We believe further people are involved with those two people and further arrests are expected and charges likely,” he said.
The arrests are the result of Strike Force Luccarda, which was established by police in April to investigate the supply of methamphetamine in the Southern Highlands.
Det Chief Insp Bernie said it was “disappointing” to see people allegedly involved with prohibited drugs and said police would continue to target people involved in the “awful trade”.
“We’re out to get you,” he said.
He urged people using illicit drugs to seek help “to get off the habit” and “keep the community clean”.
The two men have been refused bail and will appear at Moss Vale Local Court in September.
